Your Bio

After being completely away from photography for almost twelve years, I find that my interest has never been higher. I thoroughly enjoy the image making process and view each day as an opportunity to experience the splendors made by our Creator. I feel blessed to be able to travel as a part of my work and to have the chance to meet new people along the way.

My first love is photographing people and I particularly enjoy capturing people at work. I have also developed interests in nature, wildlife, and landscape photography. Though I miss the magic of watching an image come up in the developing tray, I find there is much to love about digital imaging.

At Work : Most of these folks have less than glamorous jobs, work in challenging conditions and don't complain. In many cases what they do makes our lives better. My goal is to give them some much needed recognition and provide some exposure for what they do.

Burrowing Owls : Burrowing owls nest in the ground. Though quite willing to dig its own burrow, it often uses one provided by other animals. One of the smallest of the owl family, burrowing owls have a body length of 7 - 10 inches, a wingspan of 21 - 24 inches and weigh between 5 - 9 ounces. Their main diet is insects and small animals. Burrowing owls hunt throughout the day, though mostly at dawn and dusk and do so by walking or running across the ground or swooping down from a perch or hover. They like to collect mammal dung and puts it in and around their burrow. This attracts dung beetles, which the owl captures and eats.

chiguiros : Chiguiros, or capybaras are the largest rodents in the world. They have heavy barrel-shaped bodies, short heads with reddish-brown fur on their upper part of their body that turns yellowish-brown underneath. Adults can grow to over 4 feet in length and weigh up to 140 pounds. Chiguiros have slightly webbed feet, 20 teeth and no tail. Their back legs are slightly longer than their front legs and their muzzles are blunt with eyes, nostrils, and ears on top of their head. Females are slightly heavier than males.

Chiguiros are herbivores, grazing mainly on grasses and aquatic plants, eating between 6 - 8 pounds per day. They are semi-aquatic and are very good swimmers with the ability to stay submerged for up to five minutes.

They are social animals, usually found in groups of 10 - 30, controlled by a dominant male. They communicate through a combination of scent and sound, being very vocal animals with purrs, alarm barks, whistles, clicks, squeals, and grunts.
